Make sure that you agree to the following terms and conditions because your further use and browsing of the above website www.cretago.com implies your express and unconditional consent and agreement with them.
The use of your personal data is carried out in accordance with the applicable data protection law and serves only the process of concluding the rental contract and the care of our customers.
General conditions
The company CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER is a company that provides services in the tourism sector, based in the Municipality of Hersonissos, with a license from the Ministry of Tourism Development (EOT) number 1039E60000372601.
All reservations are made via the Internet. All offers are non-binding and subject to availability. By confirming to book a car via the Internet, you indicate that you have read and accepted the terms and conditions of our company CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER. If you do not fully understand any part of them or have any questions regarding the car rental, please contact us. Upon submitting a booking request, CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER will contact you with any questions or clarifications. The reservation is considered complete when it is confirmed electronically by CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER. Acceptance of the services or the signing of any agreement will be considered as conclusive evidence of your acceptance of these terms and conditions. We may change the terms from time to time and we encourage you to refer to the website to keep up to date with any changes to the terms that apply to you. The rental of any car by you is subject to the terms and conditions of car rental imposed by the car rental company and the relevant laws of the country in which the rental is taking place.
The company CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER provides you with the vehicle in an excellent condition with all the necessary equipment. You must return the vehicle and optional extras in the same condition as you received them.
The vehicle must remain on the island of Crete.
Smoking is prohibited in all CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER vehicles. In case of non-observance of this rule, the renter will be charged the cost of biological cleaning of the vehicle.
Pets are not allowed inside the vehicle unless they are in a special "space" for transportation and always after consultation with our company.
Before driving, check your vehicle carefully.
Prices and Guarantee
The vehicle cannot be picked up until full payment and retention of the Guarantee has been made.
The amount of the guarantee is set at 1500 € and can be paid in cash or by credit card. For the vehicle with roof tent the guarantee amount is set at 700€.
Upon receipt of the vehicle, the amount of the guarantee will be blocked from the driver's card, which will cover any damage or loss of the vehicle and its equipment during the rental period. The guarantee will be fully refunded at the end of the rental if no damage is found. The release of the amount can take up to 14 days depending on the bank issuing the card. Our company does not accept debit cards to bind the security deposit amount.
Our company has the right to claim compensation for damages even five working days after the delivery of the vehicle by the renter, because it takes time to examine all the components of the vehicle.
All prices shown are in Euro and include taxes and VAT. The rental amount is calculated per night. Where a rental spans two different periods, the price will be split and calculated according to the period.
Prices include:
- Basic rental price and a 100€ service fee added to each reservation, for the vehicle with a roof tent the service fee is 60€,
- Combined Insurance for motorhomes from 1500€ and above, and basic insurance for IX. For the first 1500€ the customer is responsible. Our insurance policies cover only the rental vehicle. We recommend that you have your own travel insurance for your personal belongings,
- Unlimited kilometers,
- 24-hour road assistance throughout Crete. Also, you can call us at any time for information, advice, or any problems you may encounter,
- Free transfer from the airport/port of Heraklion to the office of CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER (20 km from the center of Heraklion) and return within office hours,
- An extra free package from CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER.
The cost of fuel, water, tolls, parking, camping, parking space as well as fines and other penalties is borne by the renter.
Driving License/Required Documents
All CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER vehicles can be driven with a normal category B driving license, or equivalent for vehicles with a total permissible weight of up to 3,500 kg and category C for a total weight of over 3,500 kg.
At the beginning of the rental the renter must deposit the confirmation of the reservation.
The vehicle may only be driven by the renter and the persons named at the time of rental in the contract. The driving licenses of the renter and all other drivers must be presented at the time of rental. In the event of an accident caused by a driver not named in the contract, the insurance does not cover the damages.
Also, the renter must present an identity card or passport and a credit card (Visa or Mastercard) and must be present at the pick-up of the vehicle. All documents must be genuine. Faxes or photocopies will not be accepted. If the customer does not bring one of these documents, or if one of them is invalid or not genuine, the rental cannot be carried out and the deposit will not be refunded.
Check the vehicle before pick-up to agree with the delivery status.
Age regulation
The minimum age for the driver and the additional driver is 25 years, the maximum age is 70 years.
The driver must have a valid driving license for at least five years.
Receipt/Delivery
The collection of the vehicle from CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER takes place at the established place of CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER.
Our office hours are 9:00 to 19:00.
The delivery and collection of the rental car can be carried out 24 hours a day. If the pick-up is made outside normal business hours, the renter will be charged an extra amount in addition to the rental cost. You will not be charged if you are not responsible for the delay e.g., due to a delay in the arrival of the plane.
The vehicle must be returned to the collection point on the specified return date by 10.00 a.m.
If the vehicle is returned after 10.00 a.m. the renter is subject to a full day charge.
For transportation from the Airport / Port / City of Chania, Rethymnon or Agios Nikolaos, the renter is charged an additional fee per trip (depending on the area).
At the start of the rental, the vehicle is delivered to the renter with a full tank, a full tank of LPG, and a full tank of water.
The renter will pick up the vehicle with a full tank and must have a full tank on return. If the vehicle is returned without a full tank, the renter is responsible for the cost of refueling.
The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as on delivery, clean inside (fridge, cupboards, floor, toilet, roof tent) and outside, with an empty drainage tank (grey waters), and empty toilet cassette.
If the vehicle is not returned the same clean inside, the renter will be charged an additional fee of EUR 60.
If the toilet is not returned empty, an additional charge of EUR 100 will apply.
In case of loss of the keys, the renter must immediately inform CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER and pay the additional amount depending on the vehicle plus transport costs to the location of the vehicle.
Rental periods
The rental period is defined and starts from the date of signing the agreement between CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER and the renter. At the end of the aforementioned period and on the specific date indicated, the renter is obliged to deliver the vehicle to CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER at the address indicated, which is the pick-up office. The minimum rental period for all vehicles is five (5) days. For high season the minimum rental period is seven (7) days.
Additional charge
The renter is charged a service tax of 100 €/ 60 € added to each reservation.
This amount includes:
- Unlimited kilometers,
- Detailed presentation of the correct use and handling of the vehicle,
- Free transfer from Heraklion Airport/Harbor to the office (20 km) and back,
- 24-hour support and roadside assistance throughout Crete,
- Preparation of the interior of the vehicle for the renter and exterior cleaning on return,
- Chemicals for the decomposition-hydrogenation of waste water as well as for the neutralization of unpleasant odors,
- First aid kit,
- 1 full gas cylinder,
- Power supply cable (15 meters),
- Water hose with adapters (tap ratchet) (10 meters),
- Vehicle alignment bases,
- Flashlight,
- Scissors,
- Screwdriver,
- Brush with scoop,
- Cloth cleaners,
- Rope pegs,
- Electric fuses,
- Mat,
- 2 basins,
- Folding table with chairs,
- All cooking utensils (pot, pan, plates, cups),
- Suggested routes.
Booking Confirmation and Payment
CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER will confirm your reservation with all the necessary details, using the email address registered by the renter when making the reservation.
Payment can be made by credit/debit card (VISA or MasterCard, not American Express, Maestro), bank transfer, or cash. Any additional amount for extra equipment rental is payable at the time of booking or prior to vehicle pick-up at the CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER office, by cash or credit card. The renter is fully responsible for all costs if extra equipment is lost, damaged or stolen.
For any credit card transaction including the guarantee there is a 3% surcharge. The name of the cardholder must be the same as the name on the driver's license. There is no surcharge on cash.
Within 48 hours 30% of the total rental amount must be paid after the confirmation of the reservation by our company. In case you experience difficulties in completing the payment, please contact us by email.
In case of booking fewer than seven days before the start of the rental, you must contact CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER by phone or email to confirm the availability of the car.
You can modify or cancel your reservation after it has been confirmed, provided this is done within 24 hours of the initial confirmation of the reservation. To modify or cancel a reservation, you must contact the CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER office directly by email.
Once we receive your payment, we will send you the final confirmation of your reservation, as well as our travel guide including useful information about Crete. The remaining 70% of the amount must be paid in 2 steps: 20% 15days before the start of the rental period by credit/debit card or bank transfer and the last 50% must be paid upon pick up of the vehicle at the company's office.
The renter is obliged to send the final confirmation of the reservation 10 days before the day of his/her arrival. In case of non-confirmation of the reservation to the company, the deposit is not refundable to the client and the reservation is considered invalid (cancellation conditions apply).
Upon arrival, the deposit of 1500 /700 euros will be paid by credit card or cash at our office. CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER is not responsible for any bank fees or bank charges related to this procedure.
The renter is required to present a valid credit card in his/her name as a guarantee of the rental even if the payment is made in cash.
If the renter does not pay the remaining amount of the reservation on time or the deposit (1500 euros) is not available on arrival, CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER can cancel the rental contract without further legal action. In such a case the reservation will be treated as a cancellation.
Cancellation policy
To modify or cancel a reservation, you must contact CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER directly by email.
In case you realise that you may cancel your reservation, please contact us as soon as possible. We are available to find an interim solution.
Cancellations made more than 6 (six) months before the start of the rental are free of charge.
- From 6 (six) months to 2 (two) months before the start of the rental period: 30% of the rental amount,
- From 2 (two) months to 30 days before the start of the rental: 50% of the rental amount,
- From 29 days to 20 days before the start of the rental period: 80% of the rental amount,
- Less than 20 days: the full amount (100%) of the rental will be withheld.
Cancellation requests must be sent electronically to CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER.
In some cases of cancellation for any administrative costs, CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER may retain a relevant amount.
For a confirmed rental that does not take place due to a no-show of the customer, invalid or incomplete registrations, a cancellation after the start of the rental period, a return of the vehicle before the date and time indicated in the contract, the money cannot be refunded. Also, the renter is not entitled to a refund on cancellation of a confirmed last-minute booking. No refund will be made if the renter made a booking using the special offer of CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER.
If there is a change in the rental period (reduction of the booking days) within 60 days from the start of the rental, no refund will be made (the rental will be charged for the original number of days).

Driving
All violations of the Traffic Code are the responsibility of the renter. In case of any fine, the renter is obliged to notify CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER upon delivery of the vehicle and in any case within 24 hours of the imposition of the fine by the authorities. CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER is not responsible for the payment of any fines imposed due to any violations by the renter.
The renter must show the police or administrative authorities the documents that will be requested (such as driving license, car insurance policy of the motorhome, etc.). The driver must follow the traffic code/speed limits and any instructions given by the authorities.
All passengers must use seat belts when the vehicle is in motion.
If the company becomes aware, in any way, that the vehicle is being driven illegally or in violation of any of these terms, it has the right to terminate the rental agreement at any time. Upon termination of the rental agreement, there is an automatic termination of the rental of the vehicle.
The renter declares that he/she is aware that the motorhome can be parked in places like all other passenger vehicles. It is forbidden to camp in archaeological sites, beaches, edges of public forests and public areas in general. Public spaces are squares, parks, etc., but not roads. The renter must park the vehicle carefully in appropriate places and must not engage in activities that constitute free camping (deploying benches, tents, etc.).
The renter is allowed to drive the motorhome on all roads in Crete except in the following cases where it is prohibited: any beach or unpaved road/dirt road, this does not apply to the vehicle with a roof tent, the vehicle with a roof tent can be driven on the dirt road. Driving on a dirt road or unpaved road will invalidate any insurance.
Before you start your journey, take some time to learn some details of driving in Crete, because the roads on the island are different, mountainous, can be narrow and with many bends and slopes.
When driving, you should always be aware of the height, and length of the vehicle, mind trees, 1st floor balconies, awnings, rocks and especially narrow streets of villages and small towns.
The renter is responsible for ensuring that the LPG is switched off (unlocked) when driving and that the rear door of the vehicle is open when the gas stove is in use.
CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER has the right at its discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
No changes to the interior or exterior of the vehicle are allowed.
Please note that in the event of a breach of the above road restrictions, all insurance policies will become invalid, and the renter will be liable for the full cost of any damage.
Insurance and Damages
All vehicles of CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER are insured by a legal insurance company, with the care, responsibility and at the expense of our company. A copy of the insurance policy is available inside the motorhome.
All vehicles have mixed/basic insurance (with a 1500€ exemption) and 24-hour roadside assistance. The amount of the guarantee covers the liability for the renter's obligations arising from any accident or damage as well as any additional expenses (traffic violations, emptying the toilet, filling the fuel tank, etc.).
The renter is fully liable and obliged to compensate in full the amount of the guarantee for any damage not covered by the relevant insurance policy, even it exceeds the amount of the insurance guarantee.
The relevant insurance copy will also be sent to the renter's e-mail address for him/her to read it before signing.
Vehicles may be equipped with geolocation systems and tracking devices to locate our vehicles in the event a vehicle is stolen or not returned to the rental location or to locate a vehicle in the event of an accident or breakdown.
In case of an accident or any other incident (fire, theft, loss, involvement in a traffic accident, etc.) in order for the mixed insurance to be valid, the renter is obliged to immediately inform CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER at the telephone number indicated in the rental contract (+306988367167) as well as the police (100), and the accident care service provided by the vehicle's insurance cover and to wait as long as necessary for them to arrive at the place of the accident. In the event that the renter for any reason leaves the scene of the accident before recording the incident, taking photographs, etc., thereby demonstrating unconventional behavior, his/her insurance cover shall automatically cease to apply and he/she shall be liable to compensate CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER in full for any damage caused both to the company's vehicle and to any third parties.
The renter is obliged upon delivery of the vehicle to present to CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER the police incident report.
A prerequisite for insurance coverage is driving in accordance with the Road Traffic Code and compliance with all the terms of the rental agreement.
In cases where there is no insurance coverage, the renter is responsible for any damage to the vehicle of CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER or third-party property:
- Violation of the terms of the rental contract,
- Driving by a person not named in the contract,
- Damage to the vehicle caused by partial or total immersion in water or sea,
- Damage caused by negligence or while driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other substances,
- Damage to the plastic windows, windscreen and interior of the vehicle,
- Damage to the tyres or the underside of the car due to driving on an unpaved or dirt road,
- Loss, theft or destruction of the extra equipment,
- Loss or theft of personal effects.
If at the start of the rental there are damages to the vehicle from a previous customer that have not been repaired, these will be recorded in the rental contract.
If the vehicle suffers damage, which is not covered by the insurance policy, the renter is obliged to pay an amount equal to the value of the repair cost based on the estimate of the repair workshop of the company CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER's choice.
In case of mechanical failure, the client is obliged to inform CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER as soon as possible and if necessary to stay in the vehicle until road assistance arrives to correct the problem during the rental period.
The renter is responsible for the charge from the roadside assistance provider in the case:
- If the vehicle runs out of fuel or the wrong fuel is used,
- Damage caused by lack of engine oil and coolant,
- Incorrect fuel placement in the water tank,
- The keys are locked inside the vehicle or have been lost,
- Depleted batteries due to incorrect use of the batteries,
- Damage caused by willful neglect.
The cost of repairs without the advice of CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER is not refundable to the renter.
If the renter encounters a problem with the equipment of the vehicle, he/she is obliged to contact CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER as soon as possible and within 24 hours, so that the company can correct the problem. If the company is not informed in a timely manner, the renter risks a financial penalty because the company cannot accept responsibility for any request submitted after this period.
CRETAGO TRAVEL & CAMPER will try to repair the vehicle with the help of the company's mechanic or transfer it to the nearest station from the renter’s location.
If the repair is not possible or fails, the renter is not entitled to a change of vehicle or compensation.
In case the vehicle cannot be repaired immediately, we will replace the vehicle with another one.
Upon arrival, the renter will receive all legal documents for the vehicle, contract, insurance and all instructions on the use of the particular vehicle.
